About The Position

Visiting Angels of Kansas City is hiring Patient Care Aides to support senior adults and other home-care clients in the local area, including Olathe, Kansas City, Overland Park, Shawnee, and Prairie Village. Aides help clients remain at home or recover at home with dignity. Visits vary according to each client’s needs, and the role combines practical assistance with companionship and compassionate care. Aides must be prepared to respond promptly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances. The role offers full-time, part-time, PRN, and short-shift options, with shifts of 8, 10, or 12 hours.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
Compassion for vulnerable people and interest in providing meaningful companionship.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Perform light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on their abilities.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including moving around the home, attending medical appointments, and taking walks.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances.
