About The Position

Visiting Angels of Kansas City is hiring a Weekend Caregiver to support senior adults and other home-care clients in the local area, including Olathe, Kansas City, Overland Park, Shawnee, and Prairie Village. Caregivers help clients remain or recover at home with dignity. Visits vary by client and may involve personal care, household tasks, meals, mobility assistance, companionship, and other support. Caregivers must be prepared to respond to medical emergencies and promptly report health changes or unusual circumstances. The position offers a range of shift options, including full-time, part-time, PRN, and shifts of various lengths.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Must pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
Compassion for vulnerable people and interest in providing meaningful companionship.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Perform light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on their abilities.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including moving around the home, attending doctor visits, and taking walks.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
Report health changes and unusual circumstances.
