About The Position

Visiting Angels Amarillo is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Patient Care Aide to support clients in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. The role serves clients with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, and dementia. The office provides caregivers across the Panhandle area, including Amarillo, Claude, Hereford, Dumas, Borger, Fritch, Canyon, and Pampa. The position is offered on a full-time or part-time basis, with a range of shift lengths and PRN shifts available.

Requirements

Experience in caregiving or a related field.
Knowledge of first aid and CPR techniques.
Familiarity with patient monitoring and vital sign assessment.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy.
Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for client support.
Commitment to providing quality care and fostering a supportive environment.

Nice To Haves

Home health or hospice care experience.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders.
Experience in memory care or Alzheimer’s care settings.

Responsibilities

Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Monitor vital signs and observe changes in clients’ health or behavior.
Prepare meals and assist with meal planning according to dietary restrictions.
Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping.
Administer medications as prescribed and support adherence to care plans.
Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
Use equipment such as Hoyer lifts to transfer clients safely.
Document care provided and communicate concerns or changes in client status to healthcare professionals.
