PCA - Patient Care Aide: PRN

About The Position

Valley Hope of Parker is seeking a PRN Patient Care Aide to support nursing staff in providing care to patients receiving residential addiction treatment. The role assists with care in accordance with treatment plans, monitors patient health, supports everyday needs, communicates patient status to clinical and nursing staff, documents care, and helps maintain a safe and sanitary treatment environment. The position also performs blood collection as directed. Work takes place in a residential treatment facility and may involve evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime based on facility needs.

Requirements

Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree with an emphasis in nursing.
One year of work experience in a behavioral or healthcare work environment, including direct patient care.
Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency.

Responsibilities

Assist nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with identified treatment plans.
Measure patients’ vital signs and monitor their health.
Assist patients with everyday needs.
Communicate with nursing supervisors, nursing staff, and clinical staff about patients’ treatment and status.
Accurately and promptly document treatment activities and patient observations in patient records and complete required paperwork.
Transport patients as needed.
Maintain a safe and sanitary environment using infection-control techniques and universal precautions.
Maintain and demonstrate current working knowledge of applicable medical procedures and nursing care based on company policy and state and federal guidelines.
Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques as directed.
