About The Position

Visiting Angels of Boerne is hiring Patient Care Aides to provide in-home support to senior adults and other home-care clients throughout the Hill Country, including San Antonio, Kerrville, Ingram, Bandera, and Fredericksburg. The role helps clients remain at home or recover at home with dignity. Visits vary by client and may include personal care, light housekeeping, encouragement with exercise, medication reminders, shopping, meal planning and preparation, and assistance with mobility and ambulation. Aides must be prepared to respond promptly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances. The position calls for competency, compassion, and professional discernment. Shifts offered include full-time, part-time, PRN, short shifts, and 8-, 10-, 12-, and 24+-hour shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Must pass a background check and drug screen.
A heart for vulnerable people and an interest in meaningful companionship.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Perform light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on client ability.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including getting around the home, attending doctor visits, and taking walks.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
Report health changes and unusual circumstances.
