About The Position

At R1, the Patient Access Supervisor supports Emergency Department operations while maintaining a strong focus on patients and customers. The supervisor coordinates processes and procedures to ensure efficient patient processing and contributes to cross-functional operational strategy, process improvement, and quality enhancement. The role requires supervisory leadership and a broad understanding of daily Patient Access functions and operations. The position is onsite at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas. Supervisors rotate call coverage to maintain 24/7 supervisory access for associates and hospital administration.

Requirements

Experience in Patient Access or a patient-facing role within a hospital environment.
Revenue Cycle experience.
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Strong leadership qualities and good decision-making abilities.
Exceptional leadership experience in a supervisory role.
Broad understanding of daily Patient Access functions and operations.

Responsibilities

Assess staffing patterns and schedules to optimize departmental resources and productivity.
Develop and implement a quality assurance program.
Track and report quality assurance results to leadership and recommend improvements.
Stay current on insurance company changes and updates.
Delegate and assign work in accordance with associates’ knowledge, skills, and experience, and ensure the work is performed appropriately.
Empower associates to use creativity and innovation to improve operations and develop solutions to problems.
Participate in rotating on-call coverage to maintain 24/7 supervisory access for associates and hospital administration.
Coordinate processes and procedures for efficient patient processing.
Contribute to cross-functional operational strategy, process improvement, and quality enhancement.
