About The Position

Inova's Pre-service Team is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Supervisor. This full-time, hybrid role is scheduled Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The supervisor oversees and assists team members in an assigned functional area, supports performance and quality, and helps resolve operational and cross-departmental issues. The role also addresses payer and system rejections or denials, maintains knowledge of insurance and payment regulations, and supports changes affecting insurance verification.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Three years of patient access experience.

Responsibilities

Oversee and assist team members in an assigned functional area, ensuring key deliverables and quality standards are met.
Address and resolve challenges, manage and track performance, and assist with time management and scheduling; escalate issues to senior leaders as needed.
Collaborate with colleagues, managers, and team leaders to resolve cross-departmental issues and conflicts.
Coach staff on analysis and decision-making methods and tools, and share lessons learned with staff and other departments.
Coach staff to identify problems proactively and develop or recommend solutions.
Facilitate staff and team problem-solving sessions using structured problem-solving methods and tools.
Recognize and resolve system and payer rejections or denials using established courses of action.
Stay current with insurance, contractual, and third-party payer regulations; medical policies; transaction and code sets; and general payment methods to support proper adjudication and compliance with industry standards.
Maintain knowledge of healthcare industry changes that affect insurance verification and recommend implementations.
Recognize the needs of individuals affected by change initiatives and conduct appropriate conversations with them.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
