About The Position

Inova Primary Care Chantilly is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Specialist to support patient access operations. The role follows Inova Health System’s Service Excellence standards and involves admitting and scheduling patients, verifying insurance, and providing financial counseling. This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position with office hours from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of patient access experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex patient intake, registration, and documentation cases; resolve errors, confirm authorizations, validate documents, and index documents.
• Prepare schedules, track records, and navigate multiple systems.
• Coordinate documentation and follow up on case-related tasks.
• Assess coverage and initiate financial assistance.
• Apply payer-specific rules, resolve insurance issues, and identify contract limitations.
• Resolve moderate patient concerns and track follow-ups with patients.
• Educate patients about kiosks and report usage trends.
• Coordinate with departments, tailor communications, and support patients.
• Validate insurance and track referral status.
• Schedule specialty visits and coordinate preparation.
• Coordinate transportation for patients with special needs.
• Resolve minor chart issues and assist with release of information (ROI).
• Provide documentation to utilization review (UR) teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
