About The Position

Inova Primary Care - Fair Oaks is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Specialist to admit and schedule patients, verify insurance, and provide financial counseling while adhering to Inova Health System’s Service Excellence standards. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of patient access experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex patient intake, registration, and documentation cases; resolve errors, confirm authorizations, validate documents, and index them.
• Prepare schedules, track records, and navigate multiple administrative systems.
• Coordinate documentation and follow up on case-related tasks.
• Assess patient coverage and initiate financial assistance.
• Apply payer-specific rules, resolve insurance issues, and identify contract limitations.
• Resolve moderate patient concerns and track follow-ups.
• Educate patients about kiosks and report usage trends.
• Coordinate with departments, tailor patient communications, and support patients.
• Validate insurance and track referral status.
• Schedule specialty visits and coordinate patient preparation.
• Coordinate transportation for patients with special needs.
• Resolve minor chart issues and assist with release of information (ROI).
• Provide documentation to utilization review (UR) teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
