About The Position

Inova Outpatient Oncology Clinics is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Specialist Sr. to provide excellent service by identifying customer needs and fulfilling customer expectations. The role performs assigned patient admission duties and activities related to scheduling medical procedures. It verifies and enters insurance information and authorization/referral requirements into databases, counsels patients on financial liability using available financial counseling tools to support maximum reimbursement, and helps maintain a safe patient care environment while contributing to team goals.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of healthcare patient access experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Report safety hazards or violations and take appropriate action to protect the environment and guests until help arrives, if necessary.
• Give and receive direct, honest feedback among team members in a non-punishing manner.
• Explain insurance benefits and patient liability using appropriate communication methods and styles.
• Support scheduling activities by conducting pre-service activities such as insurance verification and submission.
• Gather information about customer complaints in a courteous and professional manner.
• Troubleshoot individual admission issues in collaboration with other departments and staff.
• Identify and communicate authorization and referral requirements.
• Deliver an acceptable volume of work with high levels of accuracy.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
