About The Position

The Patient Access Representative 1 (On-Site) registers patients for clinical services by obtaining pertinent information, verifying insurance benefits, and collecting payments. This is a per diem role at UHealth Tower, scheduled as needed for day shifts, including weekends. The position performs patient registration, verifies insurance and information, obtains copies of insurance cards, driver’s licenses, and applicable referrals, and explains and obtains signed consent, financial liability, and HIPAA forms. It also supports patient questionnaires and appointment scheduling, maintains accurate records, reconciles vouchers, and handles telephone inquiries. The role follows University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Duties may vary or expand according to departmental needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Perform full patient registration and ensure insurance is verified and patient information is correct.
Obtain copies of insurance cards, driver’s licenses, and applicable referrals.
Explain Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA forms and obtain signed forms.
Instruct patients to complete questionnaires that may be required by a physician.
Schedule follow-up appointments, cancel and edit appointments, and accurately record no-show patients.
Reconcile vouchers and deliver them to the designated area.
Answer telephone calls, respond to questions and inquiries, or transfer calls when appropriate.
Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
