Patient Access Representative (Full-time regular, Variable Shift)

About The Position

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for timely and accurate patient registration. The role interviews patients to collect pertinent account information, verifies insurance, calculates and collects patient liability amounts, and obtains required treatment signatures. The representative answers questions and clearly explains policies. They check for physician orders and attach them to the appropriate patient record, prepare paperwork for distribution to the relevant unit or department, and escort patients or refer them to an available escort as needed. The position is at Adventist Health White Memorial, a healthcare provider in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles. Associates are required to receive applicable required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter; medical and religious exemptions may apply. Adventist Health participates in E-Verify.

Requirements

High school education/GED or equivalent is preferred.
Associate’s/technical degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Register patients accurately and promptly.
Interview patients to obtain pertinent account information.
Verify insurance coverage, select the correct health plan, and research information to ensure accuracy.
Calculate and collect patient liability amounts.
Obtain all necessary signatures for treatment.
Answer patient questions and explain policies clearly.
Check for physician orders and attach them to the appropriate patient medical record to help ensure patients receive the appropriate tests.
Enter authorization information accurately as needed.
Print and collate paperwork for distribution to the appropriate unit or department.
Escort patients to their area or refer them to an available escort as needed.
Follow guidelines and instructions from senior staff.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
