About The Position

The Pastry Decorator assists the bakery department in preparing fresh baked goods daily by following recipes, labeling, and storing products. The role prepares and assembles quality food products in a fast-paced environment and serves as a company role model by providing excellent customer service and upholding company core values. The position includes helping prepare and bake pastries, breads, cookies, and desserts; decorating cakes and pastries; supporting department inventory and displays; and maintaining quality, cleanliness, safety, sanitation, and food-safety standards.

Requirements

• Valid Food Handlers Card.
• Ability to walk continuously throughout the shift while moving about the store and handling merchandise.
• Ability to stand continuously throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Greet and interact with customers, addressing questions and concerns in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Assist the pastry team with preparing desserts and pastries as needed.
• Take cake orders and ensure the department has fresh fruits and products and a fully stocked display case.
• Support baking a variety of breads, cookies, and desserts.
• Decorate cakes and pastries for customers, using artistic skills to create designs and mix icing colors.
• Communicate with management and the baking team to fulfill requests and address issues or needs raised by guests or team members.
• Conduct regular inventory to ensure proper product levels.
• Maintain standards for quality, cleanliness, organization, customer service, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, department conditions, and food safety.
• Stock, fill, and face products; ensure pricing accuracy; rotate bakery products; and discard outdated or spoiled items.
• Use professional bakery equipment, including heat sources, mixers, and blenders.
• Take food orders in person and by telephone.
• Engage with customers and improve the speed and efficiency of service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
