About The Position

The Party & Event Host plans, coordinates, and facilitates events—including children’s birthday parties and craft classes—within a Michaels store, creating a fun, engaging, and stress-free experience for guests. The role includes demonstrating and instructing craft projects, conducting face painting and other activities, managing event add-ons, communicating with clients and store team members, completing event-related administrative tasks, adapting plans to client needs, and ensuring satisfaction. The host sets up, breaks down, and cleans event spaces while following company cleanliness and safety standards. The position also supports the store’s customer experience and operations. Duties include helping customers locate products and find solutions, providing friendly checkout service, promoting rewards and credit card programs, assisting with online order fulfillment, stocking and merchandise recovery, and supporting safety, shrink, and store cleanliness programs. Team members are cross-trained in Custom Framing sales and production and may perform other assigned duties. The role is based in a public retail store. Public areas are climate controlled, while some stock rooms may not be. Some outdoor work may be required when retrieving carts or unloading trucks. The frame shop contains a glass cutter and heat press. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other events.
Engage guests of all ages and create an environment of fun and creativity.
Demonstrate and instruct participants in craft projects, face painting, and other activities.
Facilitate event add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
Answer emails, make phone calls, complete paperwork, and perform other event administration as needed.
Adjust event plans to client feedback and needs, and prepare backup or emergency plans.
Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
Set up, break down, and clean before and after events while upholding cleanliness and safety standards.
Help customers shop, locate products, and find solutions.
Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience.
Promote the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, complete enrollments, and educate customers about the Voice of Customer survey.
Assist with omnichannel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance, and perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
Support shrink and safety programs and follow company procedures, policies, standards, and applicable laws.
Interact respectfully and positively with customers and team members and serve as a role model.
Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
Participate in daily store cleaning, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom upkeep.
Perform other duties as assigned.
