About The Position

The Parts Sales Representative is responsible for daily parts sales and stocking, providing excellent customer service to AVE-PLP customers and service technicians. The position reports to the Parts Manager, is non-exempt, and has no supervisory duties. The employer welcomes prior experience or knowledge of large agricultural equipment or commercial/turf equipment but notes that it is not required and that training may be provided to the right candidate.

The role is based in Abilene, Kansas. It involves selling parts at the store and customer locations, supporting service technicians, maintaining inventory controls and sales records, verifying shipments, and helping keep the parts department clean, orderly, and merchandised. Work may involve outdoor conditions, physical tasks, occasional exposure to mechanical and environmental hazards, and long hours or overtime during holidays, weekends, and evenings. The employee must rotate on-call responsibilities for up to one week at a time.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner that supports AVE-PLP's DNA.
• Knowledge of parts merchandising and associated selling techniques.
• Knowledge of financial management as it pertains to the Parts Department.
• Ability to maintain positive and professional working relationships with peers, management, and support resources, with a commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and peers in person, on the phone, and in writing.
• Ability to use standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
• Reliable transportation.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must pass driving record (MVR), criminal history background, employment verification, and drug screening checks before starting employment.
• Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including frequent moderate physical work and lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds, and occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 75 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• One year of customer service experience is preferred.
• Previous merchandising and parts sales experience is preferred.
• Previous experience and knowledge of large agricultural equipment or commercial/turf equipment is welcomed but not required.
• Forklift license is preferred, or ability to obtain one.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Sell parts to AVE-PLP customers at the store and at customer locations.
• Maintain a good rapport with AVE-PLP customers and service technicians.
• Maintain an accurate and effective inventory control system.
• Help keep the parts department clean and orderly.
• Record all sales and counter transactions.
• Supply service technicians with parts as required.
• Assist the Parts Manager with merchandising displays.
• Verify receiving shipments.
• Follow up on shortages and report them to the Parts Manager for expediting.
• Perform other duties as required and necessary to ensure AVE-PLP's success.
• Rotate on-call responsibilities for up to one week at a time.
