About The Position

Sternberg Automotive Group is seeking a Parts Counterperson to support the team and provide customers with exceptional experiences in a fast-paced, professional workplace. The role oversees parts sales from start to finish, serves internal and external customers, and helps maintain accurate parts inventory. Sternberg Automotive Group is a family-owned dealership group with locations across Southern Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky, serving several areas of the transportation industry.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
Ability to read and interpret safety and maintenance documents.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts, including discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

Prior auto parts sales experience.

Responsibilities

Oversee the parts sales process from start to finish.
Communicate with staff and customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Effectively communicate the status of customer parts.
Read and understand the parts catalog when identifying and discussing specific parts.
Answer phone calls and provide customers with price quotes and other information.
Review body shop estimates to verify that parts orders are correct and pricing aligns with the estimate.
Provide high-level service to internal and external customers.
Pull and fill orders from stock and conduct weekly bin checks to ensure stock accuracy.
Notify the parts manager about out-of-stock parts or shop materials requiring immediate attention.
Locate out-of-stock parts from outside sources and submit emergency orders when necessary.
Ensure internal parts requests are billed on the service repair order.
Receive payment from retail customers or obtain credit authorization.
