About The Position

Loyola Marymount University's Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering is collecting resumes for potential future part-time faculty positions in the Department of Computer Science. There may not be openings currently; applications will be kept on file and reviewed as openings occur. When needed, the position is expected to be a one-semester appointment, normally teaching one or two courses.

The Department of Computer Science serves approximately 170 undergraduate majors and 50 undergraduate minors, and offers courses of interest to the university as a whole. It offers a Bachelor of Science and a master's degree in Computer Science.

Requirements

• A master's or doctorate-level degree.
• Ability to use browser-based software services and standard classroom and office equipment.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability and genuine interest in meeting students' educational needs.
• Sensitivity to and understanding of students' diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural/ethnic backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

• Prior teaching experience is preferable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and distribute a course syllabus.
• Prepare and lead class sessions.
• Hold regular office hours and answer student questions.
• Develop, distribute, and/or grade discussion materials, homework, quizzes, and other course materials.
• Write, proctor, and grade midterm and final examinations.
• Maintain and timely submit class records, such as attendance and grade reports.
• Attend meetings and training as needed.
• Comply with all university standards and requirements.
