Portland Community College is accepting applications for Part-Time Faculty assignments in the Eye Technician Program at the Cascade Campus. This is an interest pool, meaning applications will be reviewed as the need arises for new part-time faculty. Your application may be considered for substitute or full-term class assignments. The program is seeking individuals with current credentials as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT), or a Medical Doctor with AAO Certification in Ophthalmology. An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Ophthalmic Medical Technology or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of clinical work experience in an ophthalmic practice, is also required. For specific courses like OMT 281 Ophthalmic Imaging, current COT or COMT credentials are required, with preferred additional credentials in retinal angiography, ultrasound biometry, or diagnostic ophthalmic sonography. The role involves supporting students, maintaining laboratory safety, evaluating student work, and promoting professionalism. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
