About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applications for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool in Geology. This pool is used to identify applicants for potential part-time faculty assignments, including substitute and full-term class assignments, as the need arises during the academic year. PCC is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, committed to making high-quality education accessible and contributing to community economic development. Applicants should be prepared to list current PCC courses they are qualified to teach.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in the subject area OR Master’s degree (or higher) in a related area.
  • 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in the subject area (per transcript review).
  • Subject Area degrees include but are not limited to: Geology, Geochemistry, Geomorphology, Geophysics Geosciences, Earth Science, Earth Systems Science Planetary Science, Paleontology.
  • Related Area degrees include but are not limited to: Paleoclimatology, Physical Geography Environmental Science, Science Teaching.
  • Ability to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.

Responsibilities

  • Teach part-time faculty assignments in Geology.
  • Potentially teach substitute assignments.
  • Potentially teach full-term class assignments.
