About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool for the Nursing Program, specifically for Clinical and Skills Lab assignments at the Sylvania Campus. This pool is for the 2018-19 Academic Year and applications will be reviewed as the need arises for new part-time faculty. Applicants may be considered for substitute or full-term class assignments. The Clinical Instructor role involves supervising, instructing, and evaluating nursing students in a clinical setting, typically for 2 days/evenings per week/term, with a student supervision ratio of 6-8 students. The Skills Lab Instructor role involves instructing and evaluating nursing students in the on-campus skills lab, with an instructor-student ratio of 1:6, and 2-3 instructors per lab session. Both roles report to the Director of the Nursing Program, with primary communication to their respective team coordinators.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in nursing (a majority of the part time faculty must hold a Master’s degree in nursing, as required by ACEN Standard 2)
  • At least two years of nursing experience
  • Hold a current, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Oregon
  • Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications.
  • Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.
  • Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard.
