Nursing Faculty
About The Position
Colorado Mountain College is seeking full-time faculty to join our nursing faculty team at the Spring Valley campus. With teaching and learning at the center of what we do, chosen candidates will join a team of 13 full-time faculty and over 15 part-time faculty across three campuses, dedicated to inspiring and educating the next generation of highly skilled, caring, and compassionate nurses. This full-time faculty position will begin in July 2026 with a 30-credit hour (170 day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually. Nursing faculty work under the supervision of the Dean of Nursing, who is also the Chief Nursing Officer. Major areas of instruction include classroom instruction, simulation lab and clinical teaching. The successful candidate will teach nursing courses which will include but not be limited to: advanced medical surgical nursing theory and clinical, professional nursing practice, nursing evidence-based practice and research. This position may include night, weekend, and teaching at alternate locations, along with possible interactive video teaching and other use of technology in teaching.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Nursing and 2000 verifiable related occupational experience hours within the past 5 years and a minimum of one year demonstrated teaching/training experience (or equivalent in part-time role).
- An active, unencumbered Colorado RN license or the ability to obtain a Colorado Nursing license is required.
- Experience with adult medical surgical populations required.
- Demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with students, employees, and community members of all backgrounds.
Nice To Haves
- A Doctoral degree or current enrollment in a Doctoral program is preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach course-load as assigned
- Evaluate courses and assess student learning
- Meet course, program, and institutional learning outcomes established by CMC
- Comply with department guidelines and college policies
- Maintain at least five office hours per week to meet with students
- Develop rapport with students that is professional and encourages teacher/student communication
- Assist with academic advising of students
- Participate in orientation and registration activities
- Engage in scholarly and creative activities that enhance discipline expertise and improve learning
- Serve on campus and college-wide committees
- Represent discipline on state, national, and international levels
- Participate in relevant projects with administrative approval
- Mentor peers
- Modify, develop, and maintain curriculum
- Assist with assessment activities (e.g., develop learning outcomes and assessment projects for courses, disciplines, and programs)
- Assist with program review
- Advise student organizations
- Participate in recruiting/retention activities
- Attend and participate in program, discipline, in-service, and campus meetings
- Develop promotion portfolio
- Participate in community service activities (as appropriate)
- Cooperate with other program faculty
- Work with Student Services personnel in advisement of students
- Work cooperatively with Academic Services, Student Services, and Administrative Services personnel
