About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool in Music. This pool is used to identify potential candidates for part-time faculty assignments as the need arises for new instructors in the Music Department. Applications may be considered for both substitute and full-term class assignments. PCC is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, serving approximately 80,000 students across four campuses and multiple centers, with a mission to make high-quality education accessible and contribute to community economic development.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Music (MM, MS, MA, PhD, or DMA) for Music theory and sight singing/ear training courses (MUS 111, 111C, 112, 112C, 113, 113C, 211A, 211B, 212, 212B, 213, 213B).
  • Minimum of six graduate quarter credits in music theory for Music theory and sight singing/ear training courses.
  • Master’s degree or higher in Music (MM, MS, MA, PhD, or DMA) OR Equivalent professional experience (six or more years) performing, conducting, recording and/or teaching for Music performance courses and all applied music lessons (MUP) courses (MUS 131, 153A-C, 158A-F, 195A-F, 220A-F, 221A-F).
  • Master’s degree or higher in Music (MM, MS, MA, PhD, or DMA) for Music Technology courses (MUS 170, 171, 172).
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in regular music engineering, mixing, mastering, sound design or production for Music Technology courses.
  • Reside in Oregon or Washington.
  • Ability to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.
  • Official transcripts required within 2 weeks of offer date for required degrees.
  • Academic credentials must be from a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution with equivalent accreditation.
  • Transcripts from foreign institutions will require evaluation by NACES-approved agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned Music courses, which may include lecture, lab, or lecture/lab formats.
  • Potentially teach substitute assignments or full-term class assignments.
  • List current PCC courses that you would be able to teach as part of the application.
