About The Position

The Part-Time Community Outreach Associate will conduct the Girl Scouts Inspire Me program while presenting contemporary issues curriculum for elementary aged school girls in the Houston, Pasadena, and Willis areas. Through our programming, girls are exposed to a vast array of educational topics such as the arts, entrepreneurship, the outdoors, STEM and more. In Girl Scouts, girls learn what it takes to be a leader. The leadership program for girls is based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience model, which allows girls to discover a positive value system and a strong sense of self, connect with others, build healthy relationships, identify causes that are meaningful, and take action to make the world a better place.

Requirements

  • Dependable, enthusiastic, organized and energetic.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Confident presenting to sometimes large groups of school girls.
  • Ability to engage and relate to girls of various ethnicities, demographics, and age.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid Texas driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Must be available to work 2-4 days per week.
  • Must have reliable transportation for scheduled workdays in order to drive between schools (if needed).
  • Must be available for varied hours- between 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM for day programs (hours vary by school), OR a few evening hours for schools with after school programs.
  • Able to lift and transport supplies between 20 - 50 pounds as needed.
  • A high school graduate minimum is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer candidates who reside in Central Houston.
  • Must be available for 1 weekend overnight camp per school season.
  • Prior experience working/volunteering with youth preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Some college or degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Present contemporary issues curriculum for elementary aged school girls.
  • Weekly pick up and transport of program supplies to and from the Girl Scouts Center, as needed.
  • Transport program supplies between 20 - 50 pounds as needed.
