About The Position

This part-time position focuses on facilitating Girl Scouts' outreach through interactive programs with middle and high school girls in various East Houston schools. The program addresses contemporary issues facing teen and pre-teen girls, such as peer pressure, self-esteem, health and fitness, harassment, dating violence, conflict resolution, bullying, diversity, healthy relationships, and financial literacy. The role is ideal for someone seeking to develop a career in community outreach within a nonprofit setting.

Requirements

• Dependable, enthusiastic, organized, and energetic.
• Strong public speaking skills.
• Confident presenting to sometimes large groups of middle and high school girls.
• Ability to engage and relate to girls of various ethnicities and demographics, ranging in age from 11 - 18 years.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid Texas driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
• Must be available to work 2-4 days per week.
• Must be available for varied hours between 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM (hours vary by school).
• Able to lift and transport supplies between 20 - 50 pounds as needed.
• A high school graduate minimum is required.

Nice To Haves

• Prefer candidates who reside in east Houston.
• Prior experience working/volunteering with youth preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Some college or degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate Girl Scouts' outreach through interactive programs with middle and high school girls.
• Address a variety of contemporary issues facing teen and pre-teen girls.
• Pick up and transport program supplies to and from the Girl Scouts Center in Houston, as needed.
• Become an official member of Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.
