About The Position

The Part-Time Community Outreach Associate - Brazoria County, Lake Jackson will conduct interactive programs for the Girl Scouts Inspire Me program primarily during the school day. This role involves presenting contemporary issues curriculum for elementary school-aged girls in various schools within Brazoria County. Through programming, girls are exposed to educational topics such as the arts, entrepreneurship, the outdoors, and STEM. The program is based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience model, which helps girls discover a positive value system, build healthy relationships, identify causes, and take action to make the world a better place.

Requirements

• Dependable, enthusiastic, organized and energetic.
• Strong public speaking skills.
• Confident presenting to sometimes large groups of school girls.
• Ability to engage and relate to girls of various ethnicities, demographics, and age.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid Texas driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Must be available to work 2-4 days per week.
• Must be available for varied hours - between 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
• Able to lift and transport supplies between 20 - 50 pounds as needed.
• A high school graduate minimum is required.

Nice To Haves

• Prefer candidates who reside near Lake Jackson.
• Prior experience working/volunteering with youth preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Some college or degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interactive programs for the Girl Scouts Inspire Me program primarily during the school day.
• Present contemporary issues curriculum for elementary school-aged girls in various schools within Brazoria County.
• Weekly pick up and transport of program supplies to and from the Girl Scouts Center, as needed.
• Transport program supplies between schools, if needed.
• Work 2-4 days per week.
• Participate in 1 weekend overnight camp per school season.
• Lift and transport supplies between 20 - 50 pounds as needed.
