About The Position

Yellowstone Forever (YF), the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park, works to protect, preserve, and enhance the park through education and philanthropy. Its operations include Park Stores, the Yellowstone Forever Institute, and a supporter program that raises funds for priority park projects. The Park Store Lead Associate is a field-based brand ambassador who provides an outstanding visitor experience through active customer engagement, product and program knowledge, and positive representation of Yellowstone Forever. The role supports the Park Store Manager in carrying out merchandising, marketing, and communication plans, and helps ensure assigned stores meet YF’s operating and customer-service standards. The Lead Associate also supports and guides Park Store Associates, including when the Park Store Manager is off duty or other designated store leadership is absent. This is a seasonal, non-exempt position in the Greater Yellowstone National Park Area as assigned. The 2027 summer season is expected to run from April or May through September or October, with flexible start and end dates according to store opening and closing schedules. The position lasts no more than six months. Interior park stores operate during summer; the Old Faithful store’s final day of the 2027 summer season is October 31. Gardiner and Mammoth stores operate year-round. Travel within the Greater Yellowstone area may be required.

Requirements

High school graduation or GED.
Proficiency using computers and internet applications.
Experience interacting with customers about educational products or course offerings.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work as a team player.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to learn and apply new systems, processes, and applications quickly.
Experience providing excellent customer service.
Self-motivation and a sound approach to problem-solving and timely task completion.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to lift boxes or equipment weighing up to 40 pounds with support of lift equipment.
Ability to represent Yellowstone Forever in a courteous and professional manner.
If driving vehicles, must hold and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license and a favorable driving record for insurance purposes.
Satisfactory criminal background check as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Actively greet and engage customers and represent Yellowstone Forever’s retail products, Institute courses and offerings, philanthropy efforts, and supported projects.
Set an example of excellent customer engagement and develop expert knowledge of Yellowstone National Park and Yellowstone Forever offerings.
Ensure assigned stores maintain high standards of customer engagement and positive representation of Yellowstone Forever.
Set expectations for Park Store Associates, foster a collaborative and team-oriented environment, and support associates in completing their tasks accurately.
Mentor and guide store staff when the Park Store Manager is off duty or other designated store leadership is absent.
Develop expertise in POS register screens, sales software, credit card processing equipment, and how these systems work together.
Work collaboratively with Yellowstone Forever staff to ensure store operations follow organizational procedures and standards.
Communicate relevant program, product, and park changes to store staff and associates.
Actively promote Yellowstone Forever Supporter and Institute programs.
Represent Yellowstone Forever and its mission accurately and positively, and foster collaboration with employees, volunteers, and partners.
Travel within the Greater Yellowstone area as required.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Park Store Manager, Park Stores Operations Manager, Retail Operations and Visual Merchandising Manager, or other designated leadership.
