About The Position
Paraprofessional Tutors work with students to help them understand course material, develop effective learning strategies, and become better learners. They assist students in interpreting technical assignments, understanding and using effective learning strategies for independence, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving, and identifying and filling learning gaps with discipline-specific content. Tutors develop rapport with students, peers, and faculty, attend training, and adhere to tutoring center protocols. Depending on expertise, they provide one-on-one and group tutoring in various engineering technology and related courses.
Requirements
- Associates Degree or working towards a Bachelor's Degree
- Experience working with diverse college populations
- Technology savvy

- Tutoring experience
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Responsibilities
- Help students interpret and understand technical assignments
- Help students understand and use effective learning strategies so that they become more independent and intentional learners
- Promote critical thinking and problem solving
- Help to identify and fill learning gaps with discipline specific content
- Develop and nurture rapport with students, peers, and faculty
- Attend training activities to comply with certification requirements before and/or during semesters
- Adhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations as outlined in the Tutor Handbook
- Provide one-on-one and group tutoring assistance in one or more of the listed courses based on expertise
Benefits
- Pay Rate: Associates Degree - $15.50/hr.
