About The Position
Peer Tutors are current MCC students who work with other students to help them understand course material, develop effective learning strategies, and become better learners. They report to the Director of Learning Support Systems.
Requirements
- Current MCC Student in good standing.
- Course transcripts with B or better grades in the course(s) you want to tutor or in equivalent ENR or TAM courses.
- Technology savvy.
Responsibilities
- Help students interpret and understand technical assignments.
- Help students understand and use effective learning strategies so that they become more independent and intentional learners.
- Promote critical thinking and problem solving.
- Help to identify and fill learning gaps with discipline specific content.
- Develop and nurture rapport with students, peers, and faculty.
- Attend training activities to comply with certification requirements before and/or during semesters.
- Adhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations as outlined in the Tutor Handbook.
- Provide one-on-one and group tutoring assistance in one or more of the courses listed in the following subject areas: Construction Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, or Technology.
Benefits
- Pay Rate: Current MCC Student - $15.50/hr.
