About The Position
Reporting to the Director of Learning Support Systems, Professional Tutors are adjunct faculty and industry professionals who work with students to help them understand course material, develop effective learning strategies and to become better learners. The role involves providing one-on-one and group tutoring assistance in various engineering technology and related courses.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or AAS degree and five years of in-discipline work experience
- Experience working with diverse college populations
- Technology savvy

- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Responsibilities
- Help students interpret and understand technical assignments
- Help students understand and use effective learning strategies so that they become more independent and intentional learners
- Promote critical thinking and problem solving
- Help to identify and fill learning gaps with discipline specific content
- Develop and nurture rapport with students, peers, and faculty
- Attend training activities to comply with certification requirements before and/or during semesters
- Adhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations as outlined in the Tutor Handbook
- Provide one-on-one and group tutoring assistance in one or more of the listed courses depending on expertise.
Benefits
- Pay rate is determined by candidate's degree: Bachelor's Degree - $17/hr, Master's Degree - $19/hr, PhD - $21.00
