Professional Accounting Tutor, Learning Support Systems, 2025
About The Position
Reporting to the Director of Learning Support Systems, Professional Tutors are staff who work with students to help them to develop effective learning strategies and to become self-regulated learners. These tutors help students with discipline-specific content. The role involves fostering the development of independent, intentional learners, helping students understand and use effective learning strategies, and providing tutor assistance in subject areas in one-on-one and group settings, specifically in Accounting. Tutors are expected to develop and nurture rapport with students, peers, and faculty, attend training activities to comply with certification requirements, and collaborate with the Director of Learning Support Systems on providing workshops. The Director will collaborate with the Accounting Department as needed. Tutors must adhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations, promote critical thinking and problem solving, and help identify and fill learning gaps with discipline-specific content. Secondary functions include visiting classrooms to introduce tutoring services and assisting with other learning assistance projects. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree

Responsibilities
- Foster the development of independent, intentional learners

- Attend training activities to comply with certification requirements before and/or during semesters
- Collaborate with the Director of Learning Support Systems on providing workshops to fill learning gaps of both tutors and students with discipline specific content
- Adhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations as outlined in the Tutor Handbook
- Promote critical thinking and problem solving
- Help to identify and fill learning gaps with discipline specific content
- Visit classrooms, as needed, to introduce students to tutoring services
- Assisting with other learning assistance projects as assigned
Benefits
- Pay rate is determined by candidate's degree: Bachelor's Degree - $17/hr, Master's Degree - $19/hr, PhD - $21.00
