About The Position

Emory Campus Services is seeking a painter to perform industrial and commercial painting on structures, furnishings, wall surfaces, equipment, and roads. The role includes preparing surfaces, protecting furnishings and floor coverings, mixing and matching finishes to job specifications, and cleaning and maintaining tools and materials after each assignment. The painter may also hang and finish drywall and wallpaper, and must follow required safeguards, rules, and regulations.

The position works Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It also involves driving utility vehicles and conducting daily inspections, maintenance, safe operation, and safeguarding of the vehicles against vandalism or theft. Other related responsibilities may be assigned. Some positions in this classification may require lifting up to 50 pounds and bending, stooping, and twisting. A medical respiratory clearance and respirator fit test are required before starting work and annually thereafter.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of commercial painting experience.
• Valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
• Satisfactorily pass a Medical Respiratory Clearance Test and a Respirator Fit Test before beginning work and annually thereafter.
• Some positions may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, and twist.

Responsibilities

• Paint structures, furnishings, wall surfaces, equipment, and roads using brushes, rollers, or sprayers.
• Hang and finish drywall and wallpaper as needed.
• Prepare surfaces before beginning projects.
• Move or protect furnishings and floor coverings before painting, and post wet-paint signs when needed.
• Mix and match paint, stain, and other finishes to job specifications.
• Follow all required safeguards, rules, and regulations.
• Clean and maintain painting tools and materials after each assignment.
• Drive utility vehicles and conduct daily inspections and maintenance; operate vehicles safely and safeguard them against vandalism or theft.
• Perform related responsibilities as required.
