About The Position

The Overnight Team Member manages store operations during the night shift, ensuring the store is clean, well-stocked, and secure while providing excellent customer service. The role requires attention to detail, careful handling of cash and merchandise, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for customers. The employee works independently with minimal supervision overnight and communicates relevant updates to the morning shift and management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently and responsibly during overnight hours.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic math skills and ability to handle cash, process payments, and make accurate change.
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked store, with attention to product placement and inventory.
• Ability to handle customer complaints and resolve issues professionally.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 8 hours.
• Ability to lift boxes and products up to 50 pounds; frequently lift 10–25 pounds and carry items across the store.
• Ability to bend, squat, reach, climb a ladder as needed, and walk throughout the store.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as scanning, restocking, and organizing products.
• Ability to work in cold environments, including freezers and refrigerators.
• Ability to maintain focus and stamina throughout the shift and handle emergency situations.
• Ability to work alone with minimal supervision during overnight shifts.
• Holidays and weekends are a must.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in retail, customer service, or convenience store settings.
• Basic knowledge of POS systems, inventory software, and scheduling tools.
• Familiarity with office software such as Word and Excel.
• Food Handler Certification or similar food-handling certification, especially for stores selling prepared food.
• Alcohol Service Certification where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers, answer questions, recommend products, and process transactions accurately.
• Operate the point-of-sale system and handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions.
• Address customer complaints and concerns promptly and professionally.
• Stay informed about products, promotions, and store policies.
• Keep the store clean, organized, and well-stocked, including sweeping, mopping, and wiping surfaces.
• Monitor stock levels, restock shelves and coolers, and organize merchandise.
• Set up and maintain product displays in line with promotions and product categories.
• Rotate perishable products, remove expired or damaged goods, and assist with inventory checks and discrepancy reporting.
• Monitor store entrances and exits and report suspicious activity.
• Know and follow emergency procedures, including fire evacuation, first aid, and emergency contact protocols.
• Help prevent theft, monitor store activity, and report issues with security systems such as cameras and alarms.
• Handle payments accurately, ensure transactions are recorded correctly, and balance the cash drawer.
• Reconcile cash and sales at the end of the shift, prepare deposits, and follow cash-handling procedures.
• Assist with inventory counts and audits.
• Follow safety guidelines, including proper lifting and safe equipment use.
• Help ensure compliance with applicable laws and health and safety codes, including requirements for age-restricted products.
• Communicate customer issues, inventory concerns, and other relevant updates to the morning shift.
• Work with store employees and management to support smooth operations.
• Perform seasonal snow removal as needed.
