About The Position

The Overnight Team Member manages convenience store operations during the night shift, ensuring the store is clean, well-stocked, and secure while providing excellent customer service. The role involves customer assistance and transactions, maintaining merchandise and displays, handling cash and inventory, following safety and legal requirements, and communicating updates to the morning team. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently and responsibly during overnight hours.

Requirements

• Basic math skills and ability to handle cash, process payments, and make accurate change.
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked store, with attention to product placement and inventory.
• Ability to handle customer complaints and resolve issues calmly and professionally.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, frequently lift 10–25 pounds, and carry items across the store.
• Ability to bend, squat, reach, climb a ladder as needed, and walk throughout the store.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as scanning, restocking, and organizing products.
• Ability to work in cold environments, including freezers and refrigerators.
• Ability to handle emergency situations and work alone with minimal supervision during overnight shifts.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in retail, customer service, or convenience store settings.
• Basic knowledge of point-of-sale systems, inventory software, and scheduling tools.
• Familiarity with office software such as Word and Excel.
• Food Handler Certification or similar certification for handling food.
• Alcohol Service Certification where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers, answer questions, recommend products, and handle transactions accurately.
• Operate the point-of-sale system and process cash, credit, and debit card payments.
• Address customer complaints and concerns promptly and professionally.
• Stay informed about products, promotions, and store policies.
• Clean and organize the store, including sweeping, mopping, and wiping surfaces.
• Monitor stock levels, restock shelves and coolers, and organize merchandise.
• Set up and maintain product displays consistent with promotions and product categories.
• Rotate perishable products, remove expired or damaged goods, assist with inventory checks, and report discrepancies.
• Monitor store entrances and exits and report suspicious activity.
• Follow emergency procedures, including fire evacuation, first aid, and emergency contact protocols.
• Help prevent theft, monitor store activity, and check that security systems are functional; report issues to management.
• Handle payments accurately and honestly, record transactions, and balance the cash drawer.
• Reconcile cash and sales at the end of the shift, prepare deposits, and follow cash-handling procedures.
• Assist with inventory counts and audits.
• Follow safety guidelines, including proper lifting and safe equipment use.
• Help ensure compliance with applicable laws and health and safety codes, including requirements for age-restricted products.
• Communicate customer issues, inventory concerns, and other relevant updates to the morning shift.
• Work with store employees and management to support smooth store operations.
• Perform seasonal snow removal as needed.
