About The Position

The OS&D (Over, Short & Damaged) Clerk Level I manages and resolves discrepancies in freight shipments while following established Oak Harbor Freight Lines policies and procedures. The position reviews deliveries, investigates unidentified freight, assesses damaged goods, communicates with shippers and customers, and coordinates with internal teams to resolve issues. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a position involving significant customer contact and customer service.
• At least 1 year of administrative experience in an office environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to track multiple packages and inquiries simultaneously.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work across several Oak Harbor departments to resolve issues.
• Strong PC proficiency and experience using MS Office products.

Nice To Haves

• LTL experience and knowledge of shipping terminology and processes.
• AS400 experience; preferred but not required.
• High school diploma or GED/equivalent; preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review previous-day deliveries for shortages, overages, damage, and refusals.
• Investigate packages without identification and ensure they are directed to the appropriate customer.
• Assess damaged goods, contact the shipper, schedule external inspections, and obtain the shipper’s disposition based on the investigation outcome.
• Answer phone calls and provide customer service by assisting with inquiries.
• Work with drivers as needed to resolve freight claims.
• Report unidentified freight to the claims team after a thorough investigation.
• Assist the claims team with salvage freight.
• Perform other office duties as assigned.
