About The Position

The Claims Specialist mitigates and manages claims expenses for Oak Harbor Freight Lines and works to ensure customer satisfaction when shipments are damaged or lost. The role receives, investigates, and processes cargo claims in accordance with company policy and federal statute, while maintaining accurate claims files and supporting customers throughout the claims process.

Requirements

• Experience in transportation (freight) and/or claims investigation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to think critically.
• Ability to work successfully with internal and external customers to resolve issues and claims.
• Strong PC proficiency and experience using MS Office products.
• High school diploma or GED/equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Basic knowledge of NMFC rules and regulations in an LTL environment.
• At least one year of claims experience in an LTL environment.
• AS400 experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive, investigate, and process cargo claims in accordance with Oak Harbor policy and federal statute.
• Maintain accurate claims files.
• Print and scan claims from the Claims Email Inbox.
• Assist and educate internal and external customers regarding claims processes.
• Answer claims status calls and provide customer support throughout the claims process.
• Assist with salvage and OSD requests.
