About The Position

The Optometric Technician helps keep patient flow efficient by assisting the optometrist with pre-screenings and testing before the Doctor’s examination. The vision tests performed help the optometrist provide patient care. Optical experience and certification are not required; training is provided. The company is closed every Sunday. The role also involves providing high-quality patient care, explaining preliminary examinations, completing paperwork, reviewing patient information, promoting eligible screening services, and maintaining the doctor’s office, pretest room, and equipment.

Responsibilities

Ensure high-quality patient care.
Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance in the doctor’s office and pretest room.
Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
Explain the types of preliminary examinations to patients.
Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing on patients before the doctor’s examination.
Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
Perform exam pre-screening.
Carefully review prescriptions and patient information and identify special needs.
Consult with the optician, Doctor, or Retail Management when necessary.
Ensure the Doctor’s and pretest equipment is properly maintained.
