About The Position

The Optometric Technician supports doctors in providing quality eye care by preparing patients for examinations, completing preliminary testing and paperwork, and maintaining patient records and examination equipment. The role also helps maintain a professional doctor’s office and pretest room, explains preliminary examinations to patients, and coordinates with opticians, doctors, or retail management when needed. The position is with Eyeglass World, part of National Vision, and includes Sundays off.

Previous retail or optical experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Ensure high-quality patient care.
Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance in the doctor’s office and pretest room.
Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing before the doctor’s examination.
Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
Perform exam pre-screening.
Carefully review prescriptions and patient information and identify special needs.
Consult with the optician, doctor, or retail management when necessary.
Complete referral forms and follow-up paperwork as required.
Maintain accurate and organized patient records.
Ensure doctor’s and pretest equipment is properly maintained.
Order and maintain supplies and pharmaceuticals as directed.
Follow store and corporate policies and procedures.
Participate in regularly scheduled mandatory communications meetings to stay informed about corporate policies and initiatives.
