Optometric Technician - Medical Assistant

About The Position

America’s Best, part of National Vision, is hiring an optometric technician to help keep patient flow efficient and support the optometrist. The technician conducts pre-screenings and vision tests before the doctor’s examination to help the optometrist provide quality care. Optical experience and certification are not required; training is provided. America’s Best locations are closed every Sunday.

Previous retail or optical experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Ensure high-quality patient care.
Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance in the doctor’s office and pretest room.
Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing before the doctor’s examination.
Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
Perform exam pre-screening.
Carefully review prescriptions and/or patient information and identify special needs.
Consult with the optician, doctor, or retail management when necessary.
Ensure the doctor’s and pretest equipment are properly maintained.
