Optometric Technician - Medical Assistant

About The Position

The Optometric Technician supports efficient patient flow and assists the optometrist by conducting pre-screenings and testing before the doctor’s examination. The position helps the optometrist provide quality care through vision testing. Optical experience and certification are not required; training is provided. The technician helps ensure high-quality patient care and maintains a professional atmosphere in the doctor’s office and pretest room. They explain preliminary examinations to patients, complete necessary paperwork, perform pre-examination testing, and promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients. They also review prescriptions and patient information to identify special needs, consult with the optician, doctor, or retail management when appropriate, and maintain doctor and pretest equipment.
