About The Position

Eyeglass World is seeking an Optometric Technician to support doctors in providing quality eye care and help patients see clearly. The role combines healthcare and retail eyewear in a customer-focused environment. Eyeglass World has more than 100 stores nationwide and is part of National Vision. Stores are closed every Sunday. The technician supports patient care by preparing patients for doctor examinations, performing preliminary testing, maintaining patient records and keeping the doctor’s office and pretest room professional and organized. The position also includes explaining preliminary examinations, promoting eligible screening tests, maintaining equipment and supplies, and following company policies and procedures.

Previous retail or optical experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Ensure high-quality patient care.
Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance in the doctor’s office and pretest room.
Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
Explain preliminary examination types to patients.
Complete necessary paperwork and perform patient testing before the doctor examination.
Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
Perform exam pre-screening.
Carefully review prescriptions and patient information, identify special needs, and consult the optician, doctor, or retail management when necessary.
Complete referral forms and follow-up paperwork as required.
Maintain accurate and organized patient records.
Ensure the doctor’s and pretest equipment are properly maintained.
Order and maintain supplies and pharmaceuticals as directed.
Follow store and corporate policies and procedures.
Participate in regularly scheduled mandatory communications meetings to stay informed about corporate policy and initiative changes.
