About The Position

The Optician works with doctors, assistants, technicians, managers, and other department personnel to provide professional eyeglasses dispensing services. The role designs vision correction devices to meet patients’ visual, cosmetic, and lifestyle needs. On-the-job training is provided. This is a 0.9 FTE position scheduled for 36 hours per week, working weekdays with a rotating day off and no weekends. The position is based in Sparta and Tomah and may involve travel to other Gundersen optical locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• One year of experience in a customer service-related position.
• American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification required within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional eyeglasses dispensing services in collaboration with doctors, assistants, technicians, managers, and other department personnel.
• Design vision correction devices to meet patients’ visual, cosmetic, and lifestyle needs.
• Travel to other Gundersen optical locations as needed.
