Licensed Optician Full Time
About The Position
The Licensed Optician dispenses spectacles and other optical products to adults and children using prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists. The role advises and assists patients with lens and frame choices, including style, weight, and color, and supports members with eyeglass adjustments and repairs. It also involves checking prescription and order information, taking measurements, processing orders and payments, delivering member service, and helping meet sales and performance goals. The position requires an active optician license in the state where the employee works.
Requirements
- Must be licensed to work as an optician in the state and keep the license active and up to date.
- Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail are required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Open shift availability is required for full-time positions.

- High school diploma, college degree, and/or experience in big-box wholesale, retail, or optical settings.
Responsibilities
- Verify order data entry by comparing prescriptions in the system with the original prescriptions provided by doctors, and file orders under the correct store ABC system.
- Provide excellent member service in person and over the phone, explain procedures included under the exam fee, and communicate honestly and pleasantly.
- Take measurements, ensure frame selection is appropriate for the prescription power, read prescriptions on the lensometer, and update orders as products are received, members are notified, and jobs are dispensed.
- Notify members when products are ready and handle all money-related transactions properly.
- Educate patients about available products and recommend options that address their visual needs to help achieve sales and metric goals.
- Engage with members in front of Optical during downtime.
- Follow privacy and confidential or proprietary company policies and procedures, including HIPAA requirements.
- Assist members with eyeglass adjustments and repairs.
- Assist the Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures and ensure accurate collection of funds and payment at the point of service.
- Maintain club policies and procedures and support club standards, including keeping items stocked, planograms executed, signage accurate, and areas clean and organized.
- Support a safe, positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for members and team members; address and escalate concerns as appropriate.
- Understand how to access and read department production or financial performance reports and how consistent execution affects the business.
- Perform other duties as assigned and maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
