About The Position

The Optician works with doctors, assistants, technicians, managers, and other department personnel to provide professional eyeglasses dispensing services. The role designs vision correction devices to meet patients’ visual, cosmetic, and lifestyle needs. On-the-job training is provided. This is a 0.9 FTE position scheduled for 36 hours per week at locations in Sparta and Tomah, with the opportunity to travel to other Gundersen optical locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• One year of experience in a customer service-related position.
• American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification required within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional eyeglasses dispensing services in collaboration with doctors, assistants, technicians, managers, and other department personnel.
• Design vision correction devices to meet patients’ visual, cosmetic, and lifestyle needs.
• Travel to other Gundersen optical locations as needed or desired.
