About The Position

The Optician I ensures that patients receive high-quality care by helping them select corrective lenses and frames that meet their medical needs and lifestyle preferences. The role also includes reviewing prescriptions, managing optical inventory, communicating with physicians, performing eyewear adjustments and repairs, and placing optical orders with a general understanding of insurance benefits. The position reports to the Practice Manager or their designee and is in the Opticians department. It is full-time and non-exempt. Duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.

• Optical experience is preferred, but not necessary; training will be provided to the right person.

Responsibilities

• Review physicians’ prescriptions and orders based on medical charts.
• Educate patients about corrective lens options and help them choose options that fit their medical needs and lifestyle preferences.
• Provide honest, compassionate feedback about aesthetic frame choices.
• Achieve sales goals and quotas set by office staff while addressing patients’ specific needs and desires.
• Manage frame and contact lens inventory to support customer satisfaction and product variety.
• Communicate with physicians about questions or concerns regarding prescriptions and other eye-related issues.
• Perform eyewear adjustments and repairs.
• Place optical orders with a general understanding of insurance benefits.
