About The Position

An Optical Technician works to deliver a world-class Total Patient Experience, maximize retail sales, and support patients’ medical needs. The role involves dispensing and fitting glasses and contact lenses from prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists, connecting patients’ needs with the products and services offered, and providing medical support. The technician helps patients choose frames, recommends appropriate lenses and coatings, takes optical measurements, dispenses orders, and repairs or adjusts frames. The role also requires use of optical measurement equipment and Microsoft Office applications.

Requirements

At least one year of experience in a position interacting with customers or patients, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Favorable background check result as required by state.
Proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

Previous medical office experience.
Previous ophthalmic experience.
ABO certification.
NCLE certification.

Responsibilities

Embrace and execute the Total Patient Experience by building relationships with patients and delivering medical support.
Determine patient wants and needs and sell to exceed their expectations.
Assist patients in selecting frames based on style, color, facial and eye measurements, and optical prescriptions.
Operate the auto-lensometer and manual lensometer.
Educate patients and recommend lenses, lens coatings, and frames suited to their needs.
Accurately collect optical measurements, including bridge, eye size, temple length, segment heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt.
Dispense patient orders and repair and adjust patient frames.
Dispense glasses and contact lens orders using the current process.
