About The Position

An Optical Technician achieves a world-class Total Patient Experience by maximizing retail sales while supporting patients’ medical needs. The role dispenses and fits glasses and contact lenses based on prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists, connecting patients’ needs with available goods and services.

Requirements

At least 1 year in a role interacting with customers or patients, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Favorable result on a background check as required by state.
Provide proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands.

Nice To Haves

Previous medical office experience preferred; previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred.
ABO and NCLE certifications preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Embrace and execute the Total Patient Experience, building relationships with patients while delivering medical support.
Determine patient wants and needs and sell to exceed their expectations.
Assist patients in selecting frames based on style, color, facial and eye measurements, and optical prescriptions.
Operate auto-lensometers and manual lensometers.
Educate patients and recommend lenses, lens coatings, and frames suited to their needs.
Accurately collect optical measurements, including bridge, eye size, temple length, segment heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt.
Dispense patient orders and repair and adjust frames.
Dispense glasses and contact lens orders using the current process.
