Optical Technician / Optician
About The Position
EyeCare Partners is seeking an Optical Technician / Optician to deliver a strong Total Patient Experience while supporting patients’ medical needs and maximizing retail sales. The role dispenses and fits glasses and contact lenses based on prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists, connecting patients’ needs with the products and services offered. The technician helps patients choose and receive eyewear, takes and records optical measurements, recommends appropriate lenses and frames, and operates lens-measuring equipment. The position also includes dispensing orders and repairing or adjusting frames.
Requirements
- At least 1 year in a position involving interaction with customers or patients, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Favorable background-check result as required by state.
- Proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling items up to 25 pounds; strong fine motor skills and full use of hands; and visual and auditory acuity.
Nice To Haves
- Previous medical office experience.
- Previous ophthalmic experience.
- ABO certification.
- NCLE certification.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with patients and deliver the Total Patient Experience while providing medical support.
- Determine patients’ wants and needs and recommend products and services to exceed their expectations.
- Help patients select frames based on style, color, facial and eye measurements, and optical prescriptions.
- Operate auto-lensometers and manual lensometers.
- Educate patients about and recommend lenses, lens coatings, and frames suited to their needs.
- Collect optical measurements, including bridge, eye size, temple length, segment height, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt.
- Dispense patient orders and repair or adjust frames.
- Dispense glasses and contact lens orders using the current process.
