About The Position

Unisys Corporation is seeking an experienced On-Site Service Engineer to provide hands-on support for enterprise data center servers and hardware environments, including next-generation AI infrastructure. This is a hands-on server hardware and break/fix role focused on diagnosing, repairing, replacing, and maintaining enterprise server hardware in data center, field service, or customer-facing environments. Prior AI experience is not required; enterprise server and data center hardware experience is the priority. The engineer provides on-site technical support, performs reactive break/fix and preventive maintenance, troubleshoots hardware and related system issues, and works with customers and internal technical teams to resolve service events. The role includes documenting work, escalating complex issues when appropriate, and participating in on-call rotations and extended coverage as required. It may require access to export-controlled commodities and technology, so applicants should be eligible for any required U.S. Government authorizations.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise servers, data center hardware, or similar infrastructure.
  • Direct, hands-on experience installing, removing, diagnosing, repairing, or replacing physical server hardware components.
  • Experience troubleshooting and replacing components such as memory, CPUs, power supplies, storage, RAID/HBA, NICs, fans and cooling systems, PCIe components, or GPUs.
  • Experience working with rack-mounted enterprise servers in a data center, field service, or customer environment.
  • Strong understanding of server hardware architecture and troubleshooting methodology.
  • Experience with hardware diagnostics, BIOS/firmware, and server management tools.
  • Familiarity with Linux or similar operating systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including the ability to independently diagnose hardware issues.
  • Comfort working independently in a customer-facing environment.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical issues and resolutions to customers and internal teams.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., travel to customer sites, and support flexible/on-call schedules.
  • Eligibility for any U.S. Government authorizations required for access to export-controlled commodities and technology.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Willingness to learn emerging AI platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technical support for Dell PowerEdge and other enterprise server hardware.
  • Diagnose and resolve server hardware failures and system issues to minimize customer downtime.

  • Troubleshoot server hardware, BIOS and firmware, operating systems, and hardware diagnostics.
  • Perform firmware and BIOS updates and use server management tools such as Dell iDRAC or comparable platforms.
  • Execute reactive break/fix and preventive maintenance following established procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate hardware failures using documented diagnostic procedures and technical resources.
  • Work directly with customers and internal technical teams during service events to communicate status, troubleshoot issues, and drive resolution.
  • Document service activities, hardware replacements, troubleshooting steps, and resolution details accurately.
  • Escalate complex technical issues when appropriate.
