About The Position
AHRC New York City is seeking a Preschool Occupational Therapist for Astoria Blue Feather ELC. The role is full-time, follows an 11-month calendar, and works Monday through Friday from 8:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. The position serves preschool students and involves assessing their needs and capabilities, setting goals, preparing documentation, and providing purposeful activities to develop, maintain, improve, restore, or maximize function and compensate for dysfunction. The therapist works in the classroom with classroom staff to support an environment that maximizes students’ function.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
- New York State license.
- Ability to work effectively with children with developmental disabilities.
Nice To Haves
- Pediatric experience is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret assessment data and present attending students’ needs and capabilities.
- Establish relevant and attainable short-term and long-term goals that reflect assessment data.
- Prepare IEPs, daily treatment plans, and progress reports as needed.
- Work within the classroom setting and with classroom staff to create an environment that maximizes function and compensates for dysfunction.
- Provide purposeful activities or methods to develop, maintain, improve, restore, and/or maximize function and compensate for dysfunction.
