About The Position

AHRC New York City is seeking a Preschool Speech Therapist (SLP) for Esther Ashkenas ELC on the Upper West Side, at 450 56th St., New York, NY 10019. This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position with hours from 8:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. The Speech Therapist provides speech-language pathology services to students according to their IEPs, supports educators and clinical fellows, assesses student progress, and contributes to individualized education planning and interdisciplinary care.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Speech Therapy.
New York State licensed Speech Therapist.
Experience with students with autism is required.

Responsibilities

Assure delivery of speech-language pathology services as per students’ IEPs and participate in service scheduling.
Provide assistance and consultation to Teachers of Speech and Language Disabilities and/or Clinical Fellow Therapists at regularly scheduled meetings and as needed.
Provide mandated speech-related services as per students’ IEPs.
Maintain session notes reflecting activity during individual and group therapy sessions.
Assess students annually and provide periodic progress reports and annual reports describing student performance, areas of need, and recommendations.
Complete IEPs for students based on assessments, addressing individual communication needs, and update IEPs as needed.
Assist in acquiring assistive technology for students who need it.
Participate in Interdisciplinary Team meetings and represent student needs in communication and feeding.
